Standing upon the shoulders of giants, it was the British physicist Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727) who finally replaced the Aristotelian model of the universe. His law of universal gravitation and the three laws of motion laid the cornerstone for modern physics, and provided a single set of laws that governed both earth and heaven. There was no need for two set of rules any longer, and the ‘corrupt’ transient earth and the perfect eternal heavens were now obeying the same laws of nature. The workings of the universe became the realm of science.

I don't know if I can stand the excitement.....oh the joys of a rational response to the universe..if the dogmatics only knew what they were missing !!!!!!!
many people these days, think that a non scientific universe is more beautiful. But it's hard to see beauty when you keep your eyes shut, isn't it?

Oh yes indeedy -and often leads to a bloody nose when you keep walking into things .....a closed mind is like a closed fist , not much use for anything expect punching things.....
Once you know a little of the incredible diversity and adaptation of nature, of evolutionary development migratory patterns, communication systems -how can that be less awe inspiring than to imagine - like some retarded 2 year old - that some old duffer made it out of a bit of clay a few thousand years ago........just don't get it....
the scientific picture of the world is not less beautiful, but it can be much more scary. So it's easy to ignore. We are not special any more. Many don't like it
